In his seven years in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), T.J. has provided direct intervention and program management for a bevy of children and adults diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). He has taken on the challenge of working with different clients of varying developmental levels and unique behaviors. T.J. thrives on making the client’s family and educators an integral part of the therapeutic process and helping them to utilize empirically-proven ABA techniques within and outside of session to promote continued development and behavior management.

T.J. completed his practicum at View Heights Convalescent Hospital in Los Angeles, CA, where he utilized behavioral approaches to treat those diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, substance abuse, and other mental health disorders. While at the clinic, he facilitated the use of a token economy system to reward patients for appropriate behaviors and completing tasks along with self-management techniques to cope with distressful events and promote independent living skills.

T.J. credits his success in the field of ABA to developing genuine rapport with his clients and family members, reflective listening to their unique needs, and applying appropriate interventions for attenuating problem behaviors while helping to develop new abilities and strengthen other skills.
