PEERS ® Program for Education & Enrichment of Relational Skills
PEERS® is a 14-week evidence based social and relational skills program for high functioning teens (13yo-17yo) with special needs. Parents concurrently learn how to be social coaches for their own children, leading to further success when the program is finished.
Teenagers in the PEERS® program will learn to:
- Make & maintain friendships
- Have successful get-togethers with peers
- Have conversations
- Successfully handle bullying, rumors, and gossip
The PEERS® program will take place on Friday afternoons after school on the campus of Rolling Hills Prep and Renaissance School in San Pedro with an anticipated start date in February 5th. The location of the school is One Rolling Hills Prep Way, San Pedro, CA 90732. There is free and ample parking onsite. Each week the teenager (age 13-17) will be in a group, and a parent will be in a group. The groups will be active and skill building. Both parent and teen must attend each session. The PEERS® Group is co-run by Albert Knapp & Associates, Psy.D., BCBA-D & Monica Fyfe, LMFT. They both have over 8 years experience working with Autism Spectrum Disorders are both Board Certified Behavior Analysts. Furthermore, Dr. Knapp is a Clinical Psychologist (PSY 25873) and Ms. Fyfe is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT 47541).
